Rep. Messer Names Rep. Mitchell Co-Chair of Congressional School Choice Caucus
Rep. Luke Messer (IN-06) today announced Rep. Paul Mitchell (MI-10) will join him and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) as a co-chair of the Congressional School Choice Caucus.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Tuesday, June 5, 2018) — Rep. Luke Messer (IN-06) today announced Rep. Paul Mitchell (MI-10) will join him and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) as a co-chair of the Congressional School Choice Caucus.
Messer, who founded the School Choice Caucus in 2014, will continue as a co-chair for the remainder of the 115th Congress.
“Congressman Mitchell has been a strong advocate in our mission to ensure every child has access to a quality education,” Messer said. “School choice creates opportunity and empowers parents by trusting them to make the best choice possible for their child and I know he will continue fighting to expand education options for all children in the future.”
“I am excited to join Rep. Messer and Sen. Scott as a co-chair of the School Choice Caucus,” Mitchell said. “Parents should have the right to choose which educational model works best for their children. The needs of individual families and children are unique, and they should have increased access to schools that have adapted to best serve them.”
The Congressional School Choice Caucus is made up of 34 House and Senate members and promotes expanded choice for parents and more opportunities for students.
In January, Messer sponsored the third annual National School Choice Week Rally on Capitol Hill and welcomed the event’s keynote speaker, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.
