Rep. Messer Joins Laura Ingraham on Fox News to Discuss Nominating President Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize
“Following this historic announcement, President Trump should get the Nobel Peace Prize. Our peace through strength strategy is delivering never before seen results," Messer said.On Friday, April 28, Rep. Luke Messer joined Fox News' The Ingraham Angle following historic progress between North and South Korea and discussed his plans to formally nominate President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, which Messer has been calling for since March.
Early Friday morning, North and South Korea announced they had agreed to end the 65-year-old war between the two countries and work toward a nuclear-free Korean peninsula.
“We are seeing unprecedented progress toward peace, and it’s a direct result of President Trump’s strong leadership.” Messer said. “Following this historic announcement, President Trump should get the Nobel Peace Prize. Our peace through strength strategy is delivering never before seen results.”
As a member of Congress, Messer is actively gathering support from his colleagues to nominate the President for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.
Messer sent a letter to his fellow House members asking them to join him in nominating President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. A formal nomination letter will then be sent to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee.
The letter Messer sent to his colleagues begins, “Given the extraordinary announcement of the end of the Korean War and a clear path toward denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, I am circulating a letter to nominate President Trump for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.”
Members of Congress are permitted to submit nominations for the award to the Norwegian Nobel Committee that is responsible for selecting Nobel Peace Prize Laureates.
