WASHINGTON, D.C. (Saturday, April 21, 2018) — U.S. Rep. Luke Messer (IN-06) today renewed his calls for President Trump to receive the Nobel Peace Prize if North Korea disarms. North Korea announced Friday it would suspend nuclear tests and launches of ballistic missiles, and would shut down a nuclear site. President Trump tweeted last night, “Progress being made for all!” “If North Korea disarms, President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize,” Messer said. “President Trump’s peace through strength strategy is making America safer and delivering results. This is more progress in North Korea than we saw during the entire Obama administration, and it’s a direct result of President Trump’s strong leadership on the world stage.” North and South Korea are set to meet for a summit next week for the first time in a decade. Messer first suggested President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize if North Korea disarms its nuclear weapons program in early March, after the historic meeting between President Trump and Kim Jong-un was first announced. |
