U.S. Rep. Luke Messer (IN-06) issued the following statement today sending thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Columbus-native Jonathon Hunter, one of two U.S. soldiers killed yesterday in a suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan.

COLUMBUS, Ind. (Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017) — U.S. Rep. Luke Messer (IN-06) issued the following statement today sending thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Columbus-native Jonathon Hunter, one of two U.S. soldiers killed yesterday in a suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan.
 
“Sergeant Jonathon Hunter is a true American hero, and our entire nation grieves this loss,” Messer said. “My thoughts and prayers are with Sergeant Hunter’s family, friends and the entire Columbus community. Sergeant Hunter gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country. His bravery and legacy will live on.”
 
Columbus is located in the 6th Congressional District, which Messer represents.
