Rep. Messer Speaks on House Floor Before Vote to Repeal and Replace Obamacare

WASHINGTON (Thursday, May 4, 2017) — Rep. Luke Messer (IN-06) spoke on the House Floor this morning to urge his support for the American Health Care Act – the bill to repeal and replace Obamacare.

“Today is an exciting day for those of us who have been working and fighting to end Obamacare’s reign over this country,” Messer said. “Today the House will vote to move legislation forward that will repeal Obamacare and replace it with something far better.”

The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the American Health Care Act today.

“I’ve heard from countless Hoosiers who tell me the story of their premiums going from $500 to $1,500, and their deductible going through the roof – $10,000 or more a month,” Messer said. “They have to spend $30,000 out-of-pocket before they even get to their insurance. And for a middle-class family, that means they have no meaningful insurance at all. We can do better, and we will. That starts today.”

After the speech, Messer noted, “This is a step away from more government control of our healthcare and our day-to-day lives, and a return to freedom for all Americans."
